Tow-Ed Training

Towing can be terrific fun, taking the boat to a new fishing spot, getting your horse to a competition or caravanning to new places and exploring Australia. But to tow safely and with confidence, a few basic skills need to be learned.

Towing involves several key competencies and we have identified the following subjects to be the main focus of the training:

  • safety & maintenance checks
  • legal aspects of towing
  • trailer dimensions
  • loads and loading
  • types of hitches
  • driving and manoeuvring techniques
  • braking techniques
  • reversing
  • launching and recovery of boats (if applicable)
  • carry out vehicle and trailer pre & post trip inspections

The course is a very practical 1 day course with no more than 3 vehicles to each instructor or you can organise a private course with the instructor all to yourself.

There are venues across Australia and we run regular dates throughout the year or you can organise a private course on a date and venue to suit you.

We are also able to cater for those wishing to learn how to use their camper trailer off road. This course in run in bush areas and includes trailer recovery and turning around on bush trails.
