Tow-Ed Training

Towing can be terrific fun, taking the boat to a new fishing spot, getting your horse to a competition or caravaning to new places and exploring Australia. But to tow safely and with confidence, a few basic skills need to be learned.

Course fee covers 1 vehicle (maximum 2 participants in the same vehicle) including Australian Guide to Towing, glove box Edition & Practical Guide to Towing DVD.

Towing involves several key competencies and we have identified the following subjects to be the main focus of the training:

  • safety & maintenance checks
  • legal aspects of towing
  • trailer dimensions
  • loads and loading
  • types of hitches
  • driving and manoeuvring techniques
  • braking techniques
  • reversing
  • launching and recovery of boats (if applicable)
  • carry out vehicle and trailer pre & post trip inspections

The course is a very practical 1 day course with no more than 3 vehicles to each instructor or you can organise a private course with the instructor all to yourself.
