Trip Preparation Workshop

Nothing beats getting out into the bush on a 4WD getaway. It’s a unique landscape with unique challenges. In remote areas, assistance might be some distance off, so you need your wits about you and specific skills in your 4WD arsenal. This one-day workshop gives you the know-how to cope with any eventuality – so you can stay safe, keep going, and enjoy the wonderful wilderness of remote Australia.

You’ll learn how to:

• prepare your vehicle and a trailer for bush driving
• pack the right stuff for a remote adventure
• change tyres in challenging conditions
• repair your suspension
• read bush conditions to minimise the chance of breakdowns

How it works

On the day of your training, bring your 4WD vehicle and we’ll get straight down to the practical stuff you need. You’ll get hands-on from the start as we work through planning, packing and preparation before moving onto the nuts of bolts of running repairs to keep you on the road – however remote your trip might be.

You’ll practice what you learn until you’re comfortable you can tackle any off road situation. Your experienced instructor can answer any questions you have about driving in different terrains and conditions, and we’ll run through safety briefs and pre-trip checklists.

We’ll also give you’re a free copy of the Getabout Training 4WD Guide to take away with you. This comprehensive resource includes sections dedicated to planning and management for any type of 4WD adventure.
