The Sand Driving Experience day is available at Stockton Bight Sand Dunes in the Worimi Conservation Lands (Stockton Beach), Newcastle NSW.

Come and explore one of Australia's most spectacular driving beaches – and experience a safe dune driving adventure. This one-day experience shows you how to take your 4WD onto the sand with confidence, while exploring one of New South Wales’s most picturesque locations, Stockton Bight Sand Dunes in the Worimi Conservation Lands (Stockton Beach).

You’ll get to:

• experience a guided drive of the beach and its unique eco-environment and cultural significance.
• prepare your vehicle for driving on sand
• select the optimal tyre pressure for the conditions
• gain confidence on sand by practicing excellent driving techniques
• drive with respect for the coastal environment and cultural history.

How it works

On the day of your tour, bring your 4WD vehicle, you’ll rendezvous with our experienced tour guide near Worimi Conservation Lands (Stockton Beach) which has the largest continuous mobile sand dunes in the Southern Hemisphere, with some dunes up to over 30 metres high. From novices to experienced off road drivers, it has something for everyone.

Your guide will explain the safety requirements for sand driving, and take you through pre-tour vehicle checks. Then it’s time to hit the beach and explore some of the area’s coastal highlights.

Perfect for solo drivers, couples or the whole family – this sand driving tour is a great day out at the beach. This experience will give you the confidence to tackle any sand in Australia including K'gari (Fraser Island) and the Simpson Desert.
