Come and spend the weekend in the Blue Mountains, and take your photography skills to the next level. Led by award-winning commercial photographer Ben Halcomb from 7Chairs, this course combines three of the very best things in life: photography, 4WDing and the incredible Australian wilderness.

In this introductory level course, you'll learn:

  • how to shoot the night sky - astrophotography (weather dependant)
  • hints and tips on how to capture epic sunsets and sunrises
  • introductory Adobe Lightroom skills including workflow of images
  • how to integrate Nik software with Lightroom/Photoshop (optional session)
  • tips for great action photography
  • light painting techniques
  • Macro 101 - an introduction into the world of macro photograpy

How it works

Arriving on Friday night, you’ll set up your camp or caravan* before meeting Ben to talk all things 7Chairs Photography, and get to grips with your gear. Then it’s time to head out for your first specialised night photography session.

On Saturday, it’s an early start to shoot the sun rising over the mountains, before taking your images into the workshop for some technical editing instruction. The afternoon brings the chance to practice action photography on a 4WD forest drive. You will then be treated to a roast dinner from the camp oven* (fire restrictions permitting) while sitting around the campfire sharing a few stories. We then head off for our final session of the day, a sunset shoot and painting with light after dark.

On the Sunday morning we’ll take a close look at macro photography before bringing your portfolio together in the workshop.
